Alarms Not Firing?

If your alarm isn't going off, try these steps:

  • Make sure WakeLock has Notifications permission — go to Settings → WakeLock → Notifications and enable them
  • Check that your iPhone is not in Focus / Do Not Disturb mode, or add WakeLock as an allowed app
  • Do not force-quit the app — iOS may prevent alarms from firing if the app is terminated
  • Ensure your device volume is turned up and Silent mode is off
  • Restart the app and re-save your alarm if the issue persists

QR Code Scanning Issues

  • Grant Camera access in Settings → WakeLock → Camera
  • Ensure adequate lighting when scanning — the QR code should be flat, clearly visible, and not laminated with heavy glare
  • Hold the device steady and keep the QR code fully within the frame
  • If the code won't scan, try generating a new one from a QR code website and re-linking it in the app

Premium & Purchases

  • Restore purchase — tap "Restore Purchase" inside the app. Your Premium is tied to your Apple ID and works on any device signed in with the same account
  • Refunds — all purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com
  • Features not unlocking — force-close and reopen the app after restoring, or contact us at the email below

Face ID / Touch ID Not Working

  • Ensure Face ID or Touch ID is set up on your device in Settings → Face ID & Passcode
  • Biometric dismissal is optional — you can also dismiss alarms without it
  • If biometrics fail repeatedly, iOS may fall back to your passcode

Streak & Data Questions

  • Streak data is stored locally on your device — it is not backed up to iCloud
  • If you reinstall the app your streak will reset, as all local data is removed on uninstall
  • To preserve your streak, do not delete the app

Overview

WakeLock is built with your privacy as a priority. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device — no servers, no cloud sync, no tracking.

100% on-device. Zero personal data ever leaves your phone.

Data We Store

All data is stored locally on your device only.

  • Alarm settings (time, label, repeat days) — stored in UserDefaults
  • QR code values — stored securely in iOS Keychain
  • Wake-up streak data — stored in UserDefaults
  • Premium purchase status — verified via StoreKit 2 and stored locally

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No crash reporting sent to external servers
  • No advertising identifiers
  • No location data
  • No microphone or camera data stored or transmitted
  • No account creation, login, or user profiles

Permissions

Camera Notifications Face ID / Touch ID
  • Camera — used only to scan QR codes locally. No images are stored or transmitted.
  • Notifications — all local and on-device. No push server involved.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — optional alarm dismissal only. Biometric data never leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

WakeLock uses Apple's StoreKit 2 for in-app purchases. Apple handles all payment processing and purchase verification. We receive no payment details. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

Uninstalling WakeLock removes all app data from your device. Keychain entries are also cleared on uninstall per iOS default behaviour for apps without shared Keychain groups.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using WakeLock ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the App.

License & Permitted Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App or any part of it
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful or harmful purpose
  • Remove any copyright or proprietary notices

In-App Purchases

WakeLock offers a one-time purchase ("Premium") that unlocks additional features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store under Apple's standard terms. Prices are displayed in your local currency at the time of purchase.

  • Purchases are final — refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy
  • Premium is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in with the same Apple ID
  • We reserve the right to modify, discontinue, or add features at any time

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that alarms will fire under all device conditions (e.g., low battery, Do Not Disturb, or force-quit).

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WakeLock and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App — including but not limited to missed appointments or events.

User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for ensuring QR codes are placed safely and accessibly
  • You agree not to misuse alarm features in any way that could cause harm to yourself or others
  • You are responsible for maintaining a compatible iOS device and OS version
  • Enabling system-level permissions (notifications, camera) is your responsibility

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the relevant territory.
