MUSQ
Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
This policy explains what information the MUSQ iOS app ("MUSQ", "the app") uses and why. MUSQ is made by Cuong Sam Manh ("we", "us"). Contact: Manhcuong5311@gmail.com.
In short: your workouts and body details never leave your iPhone. We have no accounts and no servers. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device and usage data to serve them. You can limit that, or turn the ads off with MUSQ Premium.
1. Information that stays on your device
When you set up MUSQ and use it, the app saves the following only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage:
- Your onboarding answers: goal, sex (optional), height, weight, training days per week and preferred split.
- Your workouts: exercises, sets, weights, reps, dates, and the recovery estimates calculated from them.
- Your settings (units, training experience, rest timer) and the exercises you save.
We do not receive, upload, sell or share this information, and it is never passed to advertisers. It is included in your device backups according to your iOS settings. Deleting the app deletes it.
If you allow notifications, the rest timer schedules a local notification on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of MUSQ is supported by ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects information from your device, which may include:
- Device identifiers: the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking, and the identifier for vendors (IDFV).
- Approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Ad interactions: which ads were shown and whether they were tapped.
- Device and diagnostic information: device model, OS version, app version, language, and performance and crash data related to ads.
Google uses this information as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. Ads may come from Google or from third-party ad networks that Google works with.
Your choices
- App Tracking Transparency. MUSQ asks before it may use your IDFA for tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", ads are still shown but are not personalized using the IDFA. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and certain US states. Where the law requires it, MUSQ shows Google's consent message before any ads are requested. You can change your choices at any time in the app under Profile › Privacy choices.
- MUSQ Premium. With Premium, the app stops loading ads and the Google Mobile Ads SDK is not started.
3. Purchases
MUSQ Premium is sold through Apple's App Store as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment details, name or Apple Account. The app only checks with Apple whether this Apple Account holds an active Premium purchase. Apple's handling of your purchase is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. What we don't do
- We don't require an account, and we don't collect your name, email or contacts.
- We don't collect health data from Apple Health, and we don't access your camera, photos, microphone or precise location.
- We don't sell your personal information. We don't share your workout or body data with anyone.
5. Children
MUSQ is a general-audience fitness app and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and UK. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Workout data can be deleted by deleting the app. Advertising data is collected and held by Google. Use the choices above or Google's My Ad Center. For anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for ads is your consent, collected through Google's consent message, and our legitimate interest in funding the free version of the app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Security and retention
Data on your device is protected by iOS, including device encryption when a passcode is set. We don't keep copies of your data because we don't receive it. Google's retention of advertising data is described in its privacy policy.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and post the new version on this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's update notes.
